Appointment Information

Initial Appointment
Your first appointment involves taking a detailed case history to understand your presenting issue. This allows me to gain a clear insight into your problem and to assess and treat you safely and effectively.
Follow-Up Appointments
Every follow-up appointment will include an evaluation of your progress, based on both your feedback and objective observations. Occasionally, treatment may not be suitable, or additional tests may be required to ensure the safest and most effective approach. In such cases, you will be referred to your GP or another appropriate health professional.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
Please bring any relevant test results or reports from previous investigations, such as colonoscopy or endoscopy reports, scans, or blood tests.
Number of Treatments
Many people ask how many treatments are needed to see results. There is no definitive answer—some respond quickly and need only a few sessions, while others may require months of treatment or ongoing maintenance appointments.

To begin, I often recommend weekly appointments for the first 3–4 sessions. In addition, I provide self-care programs to support your progress at home. Once your symptoms are under control, occasional maintenance treatments may be sufficient.

Factors that can influence healing time include:
Duration of the issue
Lifestyle factors such as stress, sleep, diet, and exercise
Age and overall health
Existing health conditions
General well-being
Important Considerations
Treatments may involve assessment of the abdomen for gut issues and the TMJ for jaw problems. Other areas contributing to your condition may also be examined. This can involve dressing down to your underclothes; please be assured that your modesty will always be respected. Shorts, leggings, and singlet tops are provided, or you are welcome to bring your own. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, please let me know.

Some discomfort may occur during assessment or treatment, but the aim is always to minimize it. Your feedback is crucial throughout the process. Occasionally, soreness or a temporary worsening of symptoms (a “treatment reaction”) may occur in the days following treatment.

Visceral pain can be complex, and individual responses vary. Pain may sometimes appear unexpectedly. If you have any concerns, please contact me.

If you feel unwell before an appointment, it is best to reschedule and consult your GP. Persistent or unresolved issues should also be reviewed by your GP, who can arrange investigations or specialist referrals if necessary.

You are welcome to bring a friend or relative to your appointments. Rest assured that your confidentiality is always a top priority.

Medicare Benefits
In certain circumstances, when a condition is chronic, Osteopathy is covered under Medicare’s GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care programme. (EPC). If you have a digestive issue, abdominal discomfort or TMJ dysfunction that you have been experiencing for more than 6 months you may be eligible. You will need to consult your GP first and if they feel it appropriate they can provide you with a specific EPC referral.

Rebates for EPC can be claimed on the day of your appointment at Chatswood and North Sydney with the Hicaps machine. At Killarney Heights you will be emailed an invoice to claim your rebate online or in person at a Services Australia Office. GPCCMP rebates do not cover the full cost and a gap payment is required. Your GP or Services Australia should be able to inform you how much rebate you will receive.
Cancellation Policy
It is kindly asked that you please give 24 hours notice when cancelling an appointment so the session may be offered to someone else. Cancellation within less than 24 hours will incur the full fee.

Frequently Ask Questions

Do I need a referral?
No. You do not need a referral to see an osteopathic practitioner.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring any test results you have from your GP or specialists. This may include blood tests, imaging reports or scope reports.
What should I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing like leggings or shorts with elasticated waist bands and singlet or t-shirt are best. Shorts and singlets will be available at the clinic if needed but feel free to bring your own.
Do you use spinal manipulation in your treatment?
Manipulation is only one of the tools available osteopaths and if you feel uncomfortable with this technique, or any other used, there are other approaches available. This technique is very rarely used by me and this would always be explained and discussed with you beforehand if it is believed it may be of benefit. Your comfort and trust are important and no technique will be applied against your wishes.
How will I feel after treatment?
While most people report feeling a lessening of symptoms and relaxation after treatment, on occasion you may be more aware of your symptoms for a short period following treatment or tenderness may be present. Visceral pain can be complicated and sometimes pain may present when it is least expected. If you are concerned please talk to your osteopath.
